Dental work: Routine dental work should be scheduled during breaks. Students requiring emergency dental care will be referred to a local dentist in Middletown. Orthodontic adjustments will be arranged by the Health Center staff with our local provider..
The Health Center will make appointments and provide transportation for any visits to health care providers for illness, injury, or physical therapy. Transportation fees may apply.
Students who have been directly exposed to a communicable disease requiring quarantine while away from campus must notify the School and delay return until the incubation period has passed. At no time should a student return to School when known to be ill. He/she should be kept at home and the Health Center notified.
When the student is able to return to School, they must check in with the Health Center as soon as they arrive on campus. They are not permitted to return to dorm, class, or School activities until the Director of Health Services has cleared them. Appropriate paperwork stating the student is cleared to return to a residential school community, listing any restrictions, must be provided from the treating health care provider.
For the health and safety of our students, and in accordance with Delaware law, St. Andrew’s prohibits student possession of prescription medication and over-the-counter medications. These medications must be supervised and administered by the nurses at the Health Center.
Inhalers, nebulizers, Epi-Pens, creams, or ointments for acne and other skin conditions, ear drops, Lactaid, nutritional supplements, and vitamins are allowed on dorm after proper approval, labeling and student signature on the Self-Administration Agreement is obtained. The Health Center RN must approve these medications before they may be kept on dorm. Any unapproved medication found on dorm must be confiscated and the violation brought to the attention of the Dean of Students.
Whenever a student returns to campus from any type of medical leave (illness, injury, or other), the student must check in with the Health Center upon arrival to campus. At that time, any prescription or over-the-counter medications must be turned in to the Health Center.
