The Health Center has at least one registered nurse on site 24 hours a day while students are present on campus including sports camps and long weekends. Our staff consists of nine regularly scheduled nurses including the Director of Health Services, two as-needed nurses, a Health Center Coordinator and two Health Center assistants. Our nurses have extensive experience in emergency room nursing, urgent care and pediatrics. The Director of Health Services, Annette Rickolt, is a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Delaware. We collaborate with Nemours Pediatrics in Middletown.
Christiana Care Health System’s free-standing Emergency Department is two miles from campus. Advanced specialized care is available at both Christiana Hospital in Newark or Nemours A. I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington. The Nemours International Medicine Team provides a streamlined process for international students requiring both urgent and emergency care.
Serious chronic illness or diseases requiring complex nursing care may necessitate a leave of absence until the student is again able to manage the regimen of School life. Decisions regarding medical suitability will be made by the Head of School and Director of Health Services, after consultation with the treating health care providers.
