2018-19 New Student Info & Forms
As the spring and summer progress, check this page often for new announcements, forms, and the information you need as you prepare to bring your child to St. Andrew's this fall. (We will also email new students and parents with this information and required forms as they become available.)
If your child plans to travel to St. Andrew's by plane, train, or bus at any point during the upcoming school year, please review the School's Transportation Policies. Some policies have been updated slightly from the previous school year, so all parents should read over these instructions.
Boarding school pro tip: if you don't already, start doing your own laundry. Can you wash and fold your own clothes? Practice at home so you are ready for this in the fall!
Please review the School's student technology requirements. A laptop is required for all students. We strongly urge you to purchase accidental damage insurance for your devices! For a small yearly premium, this policy covers not only computers but also smartphones, digital cameras, and other electronic equipment in the event of accidental damage, fire, theft, and other issues. St. Andrew's offers an accidental damage insurance policy through Worth Ave. Group; for more info, visit: https://my.worthavegroup.com/standrewsde.
For summer reading, all students are required to read any two books from this list of faculty-recommended titles. In addition, the whole school will read, Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward. This amazing novel won the 2017 National Book Award for fiction. We're excited to announce that Ward will be a visiting author for a day at St. Andrew's next spring! The whole school will also read Carol Dweck's Mindset: The New Psychology of Success; this book outlines how a growth mindset leads to success in all areas of our life.
Students will need to complete the reading by the Opening of School for orientation activities. When we return from summer vacation, teachers will lead book discussions on the books they recommended. It will be a fun way to engage with a variety of people in the community and to discuss the books you read.
If you haven't yet submitted your placement tests for next year, please complete these as soon as possible. For questions about placement tests, please contact Registrar Cynthia Poarch at email@example.com.
International students: you should have received information about your visas by now. Please contact Admission Office Manager Diane Fagan at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
