Matthew J. M. Ellis, 88, of Wrentham MA, died on September 10th surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his sons Matthew (Laurie) Ellis of Wrentham, MA, and Robert (Christy) Ellis of Richmond, VA, and his beloved grandchildren Kaylee, Matthew, and Margaret Ellis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne T. Ellis, father Mathew J. M. Ellis MD (Kin) mother, Elizabeth Kelley Ellis (Kel), sister Deborah McIntire (Debbie) and his daughter, Mary Elizabeth.

Doc was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on August 9, 1933. He attended St. Andrew's School in Delaware and graduated in 1952. He earned a degree in business from Middlebury College in 1956. He worked a variety of jobs in the health care sector, focusing on materials management for hospitals including Geisinger, Strong Memorial in Rochester NY, and Radford Community Hospital in Radford, VA. He and Jeanne were married on February 1st, 1964.

Doc was an avid golfer and bridge player, and was coach to the boys' little league teams. He retired to Brewster, MA on Cape Cod in 2003 where he remained active tutoring elementary school students in math, gardening, and playing bridge. He also served on the vestry board of Christ Church Episcopal in Harwich Port. Doc and Jeanne moved to Mansfield in 2016 to be closer to their family.
