Carl Maurits Hudig passed away in Marion, Mass., on July 2, 2013, at age 37. A memorial service will be held at St Cassian Church in Montclair, N.J., on Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. Carl grew up in Montclair, where he graduated from Montclair Kimberley Academy. He attended the University of Colorado. At the time of his death, he was a student at the Northeast Maritime Institute in Fairhaven, Mass., working toward a captain's license. He was an avid sailor and fisherman. He worked for more than 15 years as a sound engineer for a number of prominent bands and entertainers. Carl was the son of Mauk Hudig and Catherine Mayer Hudig of Montclair, N.J.. and Marion, Mass. He is survived by his parents and his sister, Vivien, and her husband, Pablo Velasco, who reside in Portland, Ore.
