Hometown: Newark, New Jersey
Favorite Class/Team/Club/Activity: Boys varsity basketball is one of my favorite teams on campus. As their manager I’ve seen the boys work very hard to go down as one of the best basketball teams in school history. But, my favorite part of the team is Terrell. He is a great coach and an even better advisor.
Favorite SAS memory/tradition/place: My favorite SAS tradition would have to be Senior Retro. It’s a great time to get the community together and say farewell to the seniors and thank them for the time and effort they have put into leading the community.
Community Impact Project: Once I got to SAS i noticed there was no affinity group for black women, and my junior year I decided to do something about it. In collaboration with two of my friends, Bwembya and Steph, I helped make Essence, whose goal was to make a safe space for black women at SAS. And that effort spawned a mentorship program with the black students at St. Anne’s. It is the most fulfilling project I’ve ever been apart of and I am extremely thankful for the support I got from faculty and friends.
Recall in a Decade: The friendships I’ve made here are like no other. The memories made on St. Andrew’s campus will stick with me forever. Whether it be spontaneous food runs to Wawa with a faculty member and friends, or just being on duty, this place has become my home, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Three Words to describe SAS: Community, thought-provoking, humbling.
Advice to Underclassmen & Future Students: Don’t be afraid to get proximate. I know our school says that a lot but it’s really true. People who are different from you can teach you more than you would ever imagine.
