Favorite Class/Team/Club/Activity: My favorite club experience was probably the dinners we would have at Senora Ramirez’s house for Casa Latina. We tried to do it at least once every year and it was just a nice time to come together as if we were actually family. We would listen to music and just sit around and talk.

Powerful Experience: The most powerful experience I’ve had at St. Andrew’s was hearing Richard Blanco talk. Having a queer Latinx speaker come to SAS meant a lot to me since that wasn’t something that was normal growing up. Although it may sound cheesy, hearing his stories all throughout the day made me feel like I wasn’t alone in the things I had experienced in terms of being one of the only queer people within my family.

Community Impact Project: I think creating the Casa Latina dance is one of the projects I’m most proud of. I think it’s a great way to allow the larger community to see what’s important to us. My favorite part about it is that everyone is actually trying to learn salsa and having fun while doing it.

Advice to Underclassmen & Future Students: Try to talk to everyone. It’s really easy to get stuck in your own friend groups, but when you make the effort to get to know other people you’d be surprised by how much you learn from others.
