Athletic Program

St. Andrew’s School recognizes the importance and value of interscholastic athletics as part of an educational program. Goals for students participating in our athletic program include: developing leadership and confidence; learning to work effectively with others; developing athletic skills, talent, and healthy habits; improving overall physical fitness; and learning the ethics and joy of healthy competition. Interscholastic athletics also provide opportunities for the entire student body to demonstrate school spirit and positive citizenship.

St. Andrew's Athletic Requirements
  1. All students must participate in a sport or activity each afternoon.
  2. Freshman and sophomores must participate in at least two sports per year.
  3. Juniors and seniors must participate in at least one sport per year.

Dance Program

Afternoon Dance is designed for students of all abilities. It aims to give students the opportunity to either learn the foundational elements of dance or continue on a more advanced track of study. Students will explore their own personal creativity and artistry through the exploration of movement, while focusing on intermediate to advanced technique. The Afternoon Dance program is designed as a place of more focused study in a particular discipline of dance as well as a place to explore and collaborate within a group.

If you are taking dance as a class, it counts as one sport for our athletic requirement. You are still required to participate in an activity every afternoon.

Theatre Program

St. Andrew's Theatre Program is a fabulous place for creative exploration, self-discovery, and collaboration. We do our best to emulate the process of production taken on by professional actors and theatres, which requires both playfulness and discipline. The Theatre Program produces three major productions each year. The fall and spring plays are drama and comedy of various time periods, and the winter is a musical, performed with a live orchestra. In the winter, there is also a play produced in Engelhard Hall. Students are crucial backstage as well as on stage. Tech Crew students build, paint, and stage-manage.

There are limited positions available for the Tech Crew. Students in Tech Crew will work for the play or musical; on days they are not needed in the theatre, they will be working as Tech Crew for the Dance Program or will help in the Organic Garden. Freshman may not sign up for theatre in the fall.

Additional Afternoon Activities

Beyond sports, theatre, and dance, St. Andrew's also offers additional afternoon activities throughout the year. These include Boys and Girls Club Community Service, Mock Trial, Organic Gardening, and Forestry.
