Saturday doesn't mean packing a bag.

Instead of scattering home or into a nearby city, our fully residential community stays together. And when 300-plus teenagers stay together, something interesting happens: they start building the weekend themselves.

Some of it is planned. Each grade takes a turn running the show through Form Council, elected students who dream up, budget, market, and execute a full slate of weekend life—everything from a spring cookout with a mechanical bull on the Front Lawn to Winter Waui, a new midwinter tradition complete with a food truck and a "gladiator ring." Older traditions carry the torch, too, like the indoor soccer league championship that's been fought for (intensely!) since 1990, or the Frosty Run, the great Open of School Weekend grade-bonder that sees Saints descend upon local Wendy's for an all-school ice breaker.

But just as much of it isn't planned at all. It's a snowball fight that breaks out after dinner. It's an adventure with friends through the woods. It's Spike Ball on the Front Lawn, a walk to town for coffee, a study trip to a cozy independent bookstore, or simply the sound of friends making their own fun outside on a Friday evening.

Weekends at St. Andrew's aren't a "break" from the community—it’s just another opportunity to build it.
