Win 106-62

On Tuesday we battled conference opponent Wilmington Friends School. To give you a little background, Wilmington Friends’ girls won our conference last year. In our dual meet last year, they beat us by enough to exhibition their last events. Their boys weren’t quite as strong and we were able to make up enough ground to win the meet overall. This year was a slightly different story. Though the SAS only won three of the eight individual events, our depth secured the 44 point win. Fun fact: every SAS boy who swam scored points in every individual event they swam. It’s really hard to lose a meet when that happens. The girls side showed another fierce competition where the SAS girls traded blows with the WFS school girls with each team winning four of the eight individual events. The meet hinged on an extraordinarily close 200 Free relay where Wilmington Friends just out-touched St. Andrew’s which put them on top by just four points. While the girls ultimately came up short, losing by four points to a team that exhibitioned their relays the previous year felt like a victory, and we left the meet feeling like a first place finish at DISCs was within reach.

Final Scores:

Boys: SAS 106 - 62 WFS

Girls: SAS 83 - 87 WFS
