Coach JaiVon Wesley
Coach Wesley is a Delaware native. As a student at St. Andrew’s, he played midfielder for the Saints boys varsity lacrosse team from 2006 to 2009. He went on to play varsity lacrosse for all four years at Greensboro College (also at midfield), and graduated from that school in 2013 with a degree in athletic training.
Coach Wesley began his coaching career in 2009; while in college, he also served as Offensive Coordinator for the Triad Youth Lacrosse Association (TYLA) Generals in Greensboro. In 2010, Wesley was named co-head coach for the Generals, and helped the team to achieve an undefeated fall season that year.
In 2013, Coach Wesley served an assistant coach for a Delaware-based Fellowship of Christian Athletes lacrosse team that concluded its summer schedule by winning the competitive LaxMax Tournament (a qualifier for the IMG Nationals) championship in Pikesville, Maryland.
Coach Wesley returned to St. Andrew’s in 2013 to join the School’s coaching and training staff; he currently serves as Associate Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Head Coach of the Saints varsity boys lacrosse team. Since being appointed lacrosse Head Coach in 2015, Wesley has led the Saints to back-to-back Delaware State tournament appearances and has amassed an 8-8 record in the historically competitive Delaware Independent Schools Conference (which includes Tower Hill, Tatnall, Wilmington Friends and Sanford). Coach Wesley is also Level 2 US Lacrosse Certified.
Coach Wesley passed the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification exam in 2013. Since then, he has also become certified in Functional Movement Systems (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and is a Titleist Performance Institute-certified (TPIC) instructor (links at the end of the Bio). As an Athletic Trainer for St. Andrew’s School, JaiVon assists in the immediate care of sports injuries sustained during practice or competition, provides therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions, and develops strength and conditioning programs for both teams and individual athletes.
As Associate Athletic Director, Wesley assists the management of 20 sports programs across 41 levels.
In 2016, Coach Wesley joined the SilverBacks Lacrosse Association—a local league based out of Newark, DE—as a summertime offensive assistant coach. In this role, he coaches elite Delaware high school players through a rigorous summer schedules. He is also the Coach Development Chair for the Board of the Delaware Lacrosse Foundation.
