The boys soccer team was one win away from capturing their first state title since 1981. The team would need to put together another magical performance to shock the second seeded Caravel Academy. It looked as if the Saints were destined to win when the score was 0-0 at halftime. Unfortunately the clock struck midnight in the second half. The Saints fouled Caravel in the box in the first 7 minutes of the second half. Caravel was able to convert their penalty kick to go up 1-0. Now having to tie the match to stay in it, the Saints had to press more and it opened up their defense to counter attacks. Caravel was able to take advantage and score two more goals midway through the second half to take a 3-0. The Saints tried their best to answer but time ran out on their incredible run with a final of 4-0. While the team was hoping to take the state title, it was a memorable experience for the soccer team and their seniors Graham Abramo ’22, William Atkinson ’22, Archie Baldocchi ’22, Flynn Bowman ’22, Christo Butner ’22, Sage Cookerly ’22, Jared Horgan ’22, Liam Hurtt ’22, Jake Kelly ’22, Nate Reed ’22, Ned Read ’22, Crawford Seeley ’22, and Tony Wang ’22.
