United 2018 | April 6-7, 2018
Dear Fellow Alumni and Parents,
I am thrilled to invite you to St. Andrew’s School’s 4th Annual United: Alumni and Parents of Color event on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of affinity groups at St. Andrew’s and we are eager to celebrate!
On Friday, an evening of celebration and conversation will begin with a dinner at 6:00 p.m., in advance of Colson Whitehead’s highly anticipated address to the School community at 7:30 p.m. in Engelhard Hall. Tad and Elizabeth Roach, students of color from the Class of 2018, and I are all eager to welcome you to enjoy each other’s company and deepen our network.
On Saturday, you are invited to attend two special events: a seminar discussion at 9:30 a.m. hosted by Elizabeth Roach where we will engage in a dialogue around Colson Whitehead’s novel The Underground Railroad, and a strategic planning discussion and brunch at 11:00 a.m. with Head of School Tad Roach to provide input and feedback on the School’s draft strategic plan. If you RSVP to attend the strategic planning discussion, you will receive a draft copy of the strategic plan one week prior for your review and preparation.
Last year’s United gathering brought together generations of St. Andrew’s parents and alumni with then-VI Form students to share experiences, build relationships, and engage the social justice work of civil rights lawyer and human activist Bryan Stevenson. The energy was astounding and we are eager to bring the same enthusiasm to campus again this year for the 2018 United event.
Please RSVP by March 23, if you plan to attend the dinner, lecture, book discussion, or the strategic planning discussion.
I hope to see you all at St. Andrew’s on April 6 and 7 for the United event.
