The St. Andrew’s boys and girls cross-country teams hosted the 2019 Delaware Independent School Conference Championships on the SAS trails Thursday afternoon, and Saints girls cross-country took home first place! Josie Pitt ’23 and Emma Hopkins ’23 continued their outstanding rookie campaigns, placing 4th and 5th overall, respectively. Emily Boyer ’21 and Emily Murphy ’22 placed 7th and 8th in a crowded field as Boyer crossed the finish line in 22:19 while Murphy came in 19 seconds behind her. Bryer Wood ’21 rounded out the top five as she finished 10th overall with a time of 23:00. These finishes and times combined allowed the Saints to best second-place finisher Tatnall School by three points.
Blake Hundley ’20 led the boys varsity squad, placing second overall with a time of 16:34. JT Meyer ’21 was the second Saint to cross the finish line with a time of 17:09, good enough for 7th place. Trey Ketzner ’21, Topher Hummel ’20 and Alec Finch ’22 rounded out the top five for St. Andrew’s, placing 14th, 15th and 16th, respectively. The boys finished third as a team, scoring a total of 54 points.
