Athletics Week in Review

Boys Basketball: The boys basketball team went 2-0 on the week, defeating Tower Hill School and Woodbridge HS to improve their record to 2-1 on the year. Lamar Duncan ’20 averaged a team-high 14 points in these two contests while Brandon Graves ’22 averaged 11. The Saints will look for their third win of the 2019-20 season on Monday evening when they travel to Wilmington Christian School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

Girls Basketball: The girls basketball team went 2-1 this week, defeating Dickinson HS and Glasgow HS after dropping their first contest to Tower Hill School. Nia Cross ’21 scored a game-high 16 points on six made field-goals against Dickinson while classmate Jill Tora ’21 netted a game-high 12 points against Glasgow HS. Emily Paton ’20 recorded 26 total rebounds in three games, grabbing a season-high 13 against Glasgow HS. The Saints will look for their third straight win on Monday afternoon when they host MOT Charter School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

Indoor Track & Field: The indoor track & field team traveled to Tower Hill School on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Tower Hill Invitational. The boys, placing 6th overall, were led by Blake Hundley ’20 as he won the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:21.12. Crawford Seeley ’22 had a strong showing as well, placing 4th overall in the 200 meter dash and 7th in the 55 meter dash. Alex Wolff ’20 took home silver in the 55 meter hurdles, running to a time of 10.19. Phineas Hunt ’22 earned eight points for the Saints in the shot put as he finished in second place. On the girls side, Lily Howard ’20 performed well in the 55 meter dash as she placed 11th overall in a crowded field of 68 competitors. Charlotte Gehrs ’20, competing in the 1,600 meter run, finished 11th with a time of 6:23.25.

Boys Squash: Boys squash went 1-1 on Saturday afternoon, defeating Radnor HS 9-0 while falling to Conestoga HS 7-2. Boys squash went 1-1 on Saturday afternoon, defeating Radnor HS 9-0 while falling to Conestoga HS 7-2. William Atkinson ’22, Kent Peters ’21, Zack Le Roy ’21, Zach Sheppard ’21, Eddie Mo ’20, Teddy Pyle ’21, Zadoc Bond ’21, Spencer McKenzie ’20 & Archie Baldocchi ’22 all won their matches against Radnor. Against Conestoga, Atkinson and Peters were the only Saints to earn victories.

Boys Swimming: The boys varsity swim team fell to 0-2 on the season, losing to Archmere Academy 108-62 on Thursday afternoon. Andrew Park ’21 won two individual events, touching the wall first in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. The Saints will look for their first win of the 2019-20 season after Winter break when they travel to Wilmington Charter on January 4th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.

Girls Swimming: The girls varsity swim team earned their first win of the 2019-20 season on Thursday afternoon, defeating Archmere Academy 108-62. Madison Macalintal ’22 and Emma Hopkins ’23 each won two individual events for the Saints. Macalintal took home gold in the 200 IM and the 100 fly while Hopkins won the 100 and 200 free in her second varsity meet. Alyse Ray ’20 and Elizabeth Rainey ’22 recorded victories in the 100 breast and 50 free, respectively. The Saints will look to improve their record to 2-1 when they come back from Winter break and travel to Wilmington Charter. The meet is scheduled for January 4th at 12:00 p.m

Wrestling: The varsity wrestling team traveled to Newark HS on Friday and Saturday afternoon to compete in the YellowJacket Invitational. Theo Taylor ’21 continued to his strong start to the 2019-20 season, finishing second overall in the 120-pound bracket. Nick Osbourne ’23, competing in his second varsity wrestling tournament, placed second in the 132-pound bracket. Tyler Wood ’21 (138-pound bracket), Nick Lilley (145-pound bracket) and Graham Abramo ’22 (152-pound bracket) each earned bronze medals in their respective weight classes while Wade Anthony ’20 finished 5th overall in the 160-pound bracket. On Saturday, Caden Wood ’21 and Matt Mitchell ’21 each won their respective JV tournaments.
