Sarah Abbott
Sarah Abbott is a US Navy officer currently serving as a Deputy Program Manager for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).
Sarah is a Navy pilot and flew the F/A-18E/F Superhornet operationally. She has deployed to the Pacific and supported combat operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. Sarah also attended USAF Test Pilot School and completed a test pilot assignment at Naval Air Weapons Center, China Lake, testing weapons and software for the F/A-18A-D and E/F aircraft.
In 2017, Sarah joined the Naval Air Systems Command as an Aviation Engineering Duty Officer (AEDO) where she works in acquiring aviation systems for the Department of the Navy. She has served at multiple program offices in engineering and program management roles and has experience in development, production, and sustainment of weapons and aviation platforms.
CDR Sarah “Killface” Abbott has over 1900 hours in 31 different aircraft and over 300 carrier arrested landings. Her personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, two Strike/Flight Air Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, and various campaign and unit awards. She earned a B.S. from the US Naval Academy in Aerospace Engineering, an M.S. from Stanford University in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and an M.S. in Flight Test Engineering from the USAF Test Pilot School.
Sarah resides in St Mary’s County, MD with her husband, CDR Bryce “Pawnshop” Abbott and their two children. Their family includes a dog, two cats, and seven chickens. Her current hobbies include gardening, sewing, and sailing.
