Edith Johnson
Having taught high school English in both public and private schools, Sis is currently involved in civic and cultural affairs in Houston. Currently serving on the Houston Parks Board, a nonprofit which has developed 150 miles of trails, and 3,000 acres of greenspace, she is a chair emeritus of Buffalo Bayou Partnership, the organization responsible for creating Houston’s award-winning Buffalo Bayou Park. She also serves on the boards of The Houston Seminar, a nonprofit social and cultural continuing education organization and the Kipp Texas Houston Regional Board. An owner and board member of Brazos Bookstore, she has been president of Houston’s unique literary arts organization Inprint, which brings renowned authors to Houston. Amidst these and other commitments, she maintains a passion for hiking, biking, cooking, and reading. Sis holds B.A. and M.A.T. degrees from Vanderbilt University. She and her husband Hasty have two daughters, one of whom is a proud St. Andrew’s graduate.
