The development of a culturally competent school is the responsibility of every member of the St. Andrew’s community. Faculty collaborate, design, and carry out inclusion programming throughout the school year, across departments and spaces, firmly grounded in our students' daily experience.
Community & Student Programming
The St. Andrew’s community collaborates to design and deliver programs that advance our commitment to inclusion and belonging and provide space for community members to engage around issues of identity and difference. From Affinity Groups, to the Student Diversity Committee, there are many ways for you to be involved.
Student Diversity Committee
The Student Diversity Committee develops and leads year-long initiatives that engage students in equity, inclusion, and justice work. The committee works closely with the dean of inclusion and belonging to address student concerns and advance the school's commitment to ensuring that every member of our community feels they belong.
UNITED
UNITED welcomes St. Andrew’s alumni of color to share their stories and provide critical mentorship for students. This program includes meetings with Affinity Groups, student-led panel discussions, keynotes, worship services, and shared meals.
Thomas H. Hooper III ’71 Conference on Equity and Justice
Each year, The Hooper Conference engages the community via teaching and learning around topics of equity and justice. The conference is named for Thomas H. Hooper III ’71, beloved alumnus and trustee who championed St. Andrew’s, civil rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
SASConnect
SASConnect is a bridge program held just before Opening Day that welcomes incoming students of color and their families to campus ahead of the wider community's arrival. The program gives new families the opportunity to connect, meet key faculty and staff, and learn about the resources available to support students at St. Andrew's.
Affinity Groups at St. Andrew's
Affinity Groups—student groups centered around a shared identity—are vital spaces where students can explore their own identities, learn from one another, find support, and build relationships. Affinity Groups partner with our Chapel Program to plan services to mark cultural and religious celebrations that bring the collective perspectives and traditions of our community into the school's spiritual life.
