Kate Cusick

English Department Chair, Head Coach - Varsity Field Hockey, Assistant Coach - Girls JV Basketball

Kate Cusick joined St. Andrew’s in 2022; she has served as III Form Dean, and currently serves as an English teacher and department chair, head varsity field hockey coach, and JV girls basketball coach.

Kate started her career in the corporate world, writing and editing copy and as a project manager in public relations and advertising agencies, shortly after earning her bachelor’s degree from Boston University (Boston, Mass.). Her career in education began at Kent Place School (Summit, N.J.) in 2002, and she has since served at secondary schools along the East Coast while earning a master’s degree in education from Harvard University (Boston, Mass.) and a Master of Arts from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English (Middlebury, Vt.). Kate’s studies and literary interests involve the intersection of literature and identity, creative writing, and adolescent development.

Along with her passion for language and literature, Kate is a lifelong fitness enthusiast. She was a three-sport, four-year high school varsity athlete who went on to play Division I field hockey at Boston University. She was selected as Rookie of the Week, All-Conference Tournament First Team, and First Team All-America East. Despite a knee injury in her junior year, Cusick finished her collegiate career as a two-time conference champion and among the top record holders for career goals and points in Terrier history.

If she is not in the classroom, Kate can be found in the library, at sporting events around campus, in the fitness center, walking, reading, writing, or traveling with her family.
