Why did you come to St. Andrew's? Why do you stay here?
When I first began searching for a boarding school, I had a list of the qualities that, at the time, I thought were the most important characteristics a boarding school should have, and the level of academics was high on the list. However, as I began to tour many different boarding schools and examine each one closely, I realized that many of the schools possessed very similar characteristics, such as the level of each one’s overall education, and that the qualities that I had at first thought would have been so different and distinctive were actually quite similar throughout the schools. Thus, I was presented with a problem: since each one possessed comparably the qualities that I had at first been looking for, what would I then judge the schools by in order to find the best one for me?
I finally realized what feature could so drastically separate one school from another: the community. The presence of the community at St. Andrew’s is one that was, and is, unlike any other school that I have seen since. The singular warmth and acceptance that I felt when I toured, I still feel now as a sophomore two years later, for it is one that is buried deep within the spirit and foundation of the St. Andrew’s School; it is a feeling of such rare acceptance that it cannot be fully described, only experienced, and was by far the deciding factor in my decision to attend St. Andrew’s.
