Organic Garden

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food, and medicine for the soul.

Luther Burbank

Each fall and spring, students work in our two-acre organic garden to plant and harvest vegetables and flowers for the community. To complete the energy cycle, all fruit and vegetable waste from the kitchen is delivered to the garden's compost heap, as well as leaf matter from our grounds.

Our Organic Garden program will change significantly in 2008 with the creation of raised beds. This will add a new dimension to our program by making it not only more aesthetically pleasing but also user friendly. With this upgrade we should be better able to serve our community with produce. The plan for this year is to have a substantial herb garden, pumpkins, and strawberries as our main crops.
