New Girls Athletic Field Primed for Fall Soccer Season
Posted September 15, 2011
Last spring, it became clear that the girl's varsity lacrosse and soccer field needed upgrading to meet the expectations of St. Andrew's Athletics and high level of play the girls display each and every game. A call went out to help support the construction of a new girls field - a state-of-the-art, all-natural grass field - and dozens of current and former parents and alumni responded with trademark generosity.
After a busy summer that saw the field adjacent to the new Sipprelle Field House transform from a weed-tufted, cornfield descendant to a graded work of art complete with irrigation and drainage systems, the Varsity Girls Soccer Team stepped onto a green oasis for two games in two days. In all, it was a five-month process that could not have happened without the support and confidence that all parents have in these girls to always do their best and leave it all out on what is now a landmark St. Andrew's athletic field. On behalf of these girls and future generations of St. Andrew's female athletes, "Thank You."
Please watch the video below for a special message from the girls (complete with their own musical selections).
