Midnight Madness
Posted November 12, 2010
For the 7th consecutive year the boys and girls varsity swim teams retained their title as the First Team in the First State. Marking the first sanctioned opportunity to practice, team members dove into the Genereaux Aquatic Center pool at the stroke of midnight tonight and celebrated before participating in a light thirty-minute workout under the direction of Head Coach Bill Wallace. Watching the team go through their paces Coach Wallace couldn't hide his excitement. "We're looking forward to a great season. I can say that because I know everyone will get faster as the season progresses."
Wallace will be joined this season by Coaches Hammond and Donna Wallace as well as newcomers Coach Crimmins and Coach Kelly. With a sleeping campus as their backdrop the team looked primed to swim in their first meet. A strong returning group of core seniors are ready lead and start pulling the team together. They're off to a good start. When asked why he was in the pool after midnight swimming laps with his teammates Senior Marco Peghini had a simple answer, "Because it's fun."
The team's first meet will take place on Saturday, December 4th versus Tower Hill.
