Elizabeth Roach to Give 2012 Convocation Address

English teacher Elizabeth Roach will deliver the 2012 Convocation Address on Friday, September 7th at 1:00 p.m. in Engelhard Hall.
Elizabeth has taught English to generations of St. Andreans and currently holds the Stuart Chair in English as Head of the English Department. She graduated with honors from the Nichols School in Buffalo, New York, Mount Holyoke College, where she was a Sarah Williston Scholar and captain of the varsity tennis team, and Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College where she earned her master's degree in English. She has been a driving force in cross-curriculum education at St. Andrew's and currently teaches History, Literature, and the Contested Past alongside History Department Chair Emily Pressman.
Elizabeth has also excelled in athletics. She coached the St. Andrew's girls' varsity tennis team to three state championships and was named the Delaware Coach of the Year in 1991. In 2004 she joined her father, Lane "Grizz" Montesano, as an inductee into the Nichols School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Elizabeth is married to Headmaster Tad Roach and is the proud mother to Matthew '04, Hadley '07, Z '13, and Annie.
