June and July 2021
Visit the Common App's "Explore" page and do just that: explore! Review colleges that are on your list.
Schedule college tours—virtual or in-person, if COVID protocols allow—of schools that really interest you; be sure to document your observations and perceptions of each school.
Ask the College Office about contacting SAS alumni that attended schools you’re interested in for further insights, especially if you can’t visit a campus in-person.
Brainstorm college essay ideas, and begin drafting!
Continue to prepare for the ACT or SAT (optional).
Saturday, June 5: Take SATs at home (optional).

August 2021
Continue to research schools and narrow your list, keeping in mind the importance of having a balanced group of Reach, Possible, and Likely schools.
Fill out the Common Application.
Complete a rough draft of your essay (and send it to your counselor!).
Explore potential application plans based on your list (Early Action, Rolling, Early Decision, Regular Decision); be in touch with your counselor if you have questions.
Saturday, Aug 28: Take SATs at home (optional).
September 2021
Schedule a meeting with your counselor to discuss your application plans.
Common Application essay drafts are due to your counselor.
Attend college visits offered at St. Andrew’s by the schools on your list.
Saturday, Sept 11: ACT Testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
October 2021
Complete college applications for early action and early decision (deadlines may be as early as October 15).
If you are applying for financial aid, complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile. These are forms open available October 1.
Attend college visits offered at St. Andrew’s by the schools on your list.
Saturday, Oct 2: SAT Testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
Saturday, Oct 23: ACT Testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
November 2021
Continue to work on college applications.
Research scholarships available at your schools and on Fastweb and Scholar Snapp.
Saturday, Nov 6: SAT Testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
December 2021
Continue to work on college applications; regular decision deadlines most commonly fall between January 1 and January 15.
Meet with your counselor to finalize your regular decision application plans.
Saturday, Dec 4: SAT Testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
Saturday, Dec 11: ACT testing available at St. Andrew's (optional).
Inform your college counselor of any/all admission news received.
Breathe, and enjoy your Winter Break!
January - april 2022
Inform your college counselor of any/all admission news received.
Stay engaged in your classes. Final transcripts matter.
May 2022
Inform your college counselor about where you intend to matriculate by May 1.
Monday, May 3 - Friday, May 14: Take Advanced Placement exams in selected courses if you’re registered (optional).

Summer 2021
Take some college tours while you’re on break. Mix it up and check out schools that are urban and rural; explore big universities and smaller liberal arts colleges. Often, you can see a great variety of schools within an hour’s drive of home.
Do some early preparation for the ACT or SAT (optional).
September 2021
Attend college visits offered at St. Andrew’s, both those schools that you are assigned to attend, and those for schools you are curious about.
October 2021
Wednesday, Oct 13: Take PSATs at St. Andrew’s School.
Continue attending college visits offered at St. Andrew’s, both those schools that you are assigned to attend, and those for schools you are curious about.
November 2021
Attend SAS College Kickoff Program for V Form students and their parents (this will either be held at St. Andrew's, or held virtually).
Watch for an email from Naviance, and follow the instructions to register your Naviance account.
December 2021
Your Autobiographical Questionnaire (available in Naviance) is due back to the College Counseling office when you return from Thanksgiving Break.
Schedule your initial meeting with your college counselor after completing your Autobiographical Questionnaire.
Work with your parents to schedule a visit or two to colleges convenient to your plans over Winter Break and/or winter Long Weekend.
Enroll in a Revolution Prep online ACT or SAT prep class. These classes occur on Sunday afternoons.
Saturday, Dec 4: SAT testing available at St. Andrew's (optional).
Saturday, Dec 11: ACT testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
January 2022
Complete “Initial Thoughts on College” questionnaire (available in Naviance) before you return to campus for the second semester.
Schedule your second visit with your college counselor after completing your Initial Thoughts questionnaire.
Once you have met with your counselor, begin learning about and researching the colleges on your list.
February 2022
Meet with your counselor to discuss possible Spring Break visits based on your college list.
Saturday, Feb 5: ACT testing available at St. Andrew’s (optional).
March 2022
Research and/or visit colleges: remember to take excellent notes!
Think of two teachers you would like to have write your recommendation letters for your college applications.
Saturday, Mar 12: Take SATs at home (optional; this test occurs over our Spring Break).
April 2022
Talk with your college counselor about teacher recommendations; then, ask two teachers to write college recommendation letters and return signed request forms to the College Counseling office.
Attend Common Application workshop and meeting, required for all juniors.
Saturday, Apr 9: ACT testing is available at St. Andrew's (optional).
May/June 2022
Meet with your counselor to narrow your list of colleges.
Review your classes for senior year.
Consider making some summer trips to visit colleges on your list.
If you are unable to visit certain colleges, or if you’d like additional insights about a particular school, contact the College Counseling Office for a list of SAS alumni who have offered to answer questions about their time at their university.
Saturday, May 7: SAT testing available at St. Andrew's (optional).
Monday, May 3 - Friday, May 14: Take Advanced Placement exams in selected courses (optional).
