Boys Varsity Tennis

Team Info

Coach: Chris Childers and Peter Hoopes

The Boys' Tennis program boasts a long and proud history at St. Andrew's. Winners of 18 state titles and 22 conference championships since 1957, the Boys team constantly competes for the top spot in Delaware Tennis. St. Andrew's is the reigning Delaware State Champion, having won in the spring of 2009.

The team competes in the Independent Conference where the level of competition is very high, including 4 of the top 5 players in the state. In addition, the boys compete against the state's best public and parochial schools, some of which are 6 or 7 times larger that SAS. All levels of play are emphasized, as both singles and doubles players receive expert coaching on the specifics of their game. Doubles has been especially strong at St. Andrew's: in the past 5 years, St. Andrew's has placed seven of a possible ten doubles teams in the state championship finals. Of those seven, five have won, including both first and second doubles in 2009.

2010 looks to be another strong year for the team, as they return five of seven starters and welcome some new talented players.
