With thirty seconds left in the first half, God smiled down on the Saints in the form of some lightning strikes that lead to an hour delay of game. Up to this point, the Saints had struggled to get any momentum going and were trading goals with the Buccaneer. A the half the tally was 6 - 5 in the favor of the visitors. But after the lightning delay, the Saints came out all business, scoring 12 goals in the second half to Caravel’s three. It all began at the face-off, where Sam Winslow ’17 began owning every single draw; Sam finished the day with seven ground balls, which is impressive. Both John Paris ’17 and Teddy Oliver ’19 ignited to score five goals each while senior tri-captain August Saguil, had the hat trick. Cooper deButts ’18 was instrumental in the Saints turnaround as well, scooping up seven groundballs, making three assists and running all over the field, riding and making plays. The defense held strong in the second half and Ryan Godfrey ’19, Arthur Potter ’19, and Thomas Cunningham ’19 allowed only three goals on five shots in the second quarter. Middie Mac Nicholson ’18 was speaking loudly with his long stick, doling out all sorts of punishing blows to the Caravel middies. In his first game back since suffering a concussion, junior Warrington Webb ’18 dished out three assists as well as providing a stabilizing force on offense. This last home game for the seniors provided a memorable way to finish their time playing on the verdant green fields of SAS.
