The St. Andrew’s girls swim team came up just short on Tuesday afternoon, losing to Cape Henlopen High School by the final score of 84-86. Ann Yancey Bassett ’19 had quite the day for the Saints, earning two first place finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. With her performance in the 200 free, Bassett became the 12th member of the SAS swim team to qualify for the state tournament. Sarah Caron ’19 and Alyse Ray ’20 also recorded first place finishes for the Saints in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectively. Rounding out the first place finishes for the Saints was the first place 200 medley relay team consisting of Katie Macalintal ’20, Ray, Caron and Piper Ackermann ’19 and the 400 free relay team starring Bassett, Captain Alex Hopkins ‘18, Pia Mozdzanowski ’19 and Caron.

The Saints will look for their first win of the season Saturday afternoon when they play host to Tower Hill School. The meet begins at 4:00 p.m.
